In our January Market Insights report, Leapfrog explores the growing role of tele‑ICU. Specifically, tele-ICU is increasingly helping hospitals make Considerable Achievement toward meeting the ICU Physician Staffing Standard. Based on 2021–2025 Hospital Survey data, the analysis shows that half of hospitals scoring Considerable Achievement now leverage tele‑ICU—a notable rise from 38% in 2021. This trend highlights tele‑ICU’s value as a critical enabler for hospitals on the path to full compliance, particularly those navigating intensivist shortages or geographic barriers. As hospitals continue to strengthen around-the-clock intensivist coverage, tele‑ICU stands out as both a bridge to and a foundation for high‑reliability ICU care.
